Wejdaan

Wejdaan (وِجدان — Arabic for "conscience" or "inner feeling") is a mental health platform built for Iraqi realities. With fewer than 1 psychiatrist per 100,000 people, Iraq faces one of the world's most severe mental health workforce shortages. An estimated 89% of those who need care never receive it — blocked by stigma, lack of providers, and infrastructure gaps. We're building the bridge. Wejdaan connects Iraqis — whether in Baghdad, Basra, or the diaspora — with therapists who understand their language, culture, and context. Our platform is designed around privacy, accessibility, and the practical realities of seeking care in Iraq: secure sessions, flexible scheduling, and payment methods that actually work. For therapists, we handle the complexity — payments across Zain Cash, Asia Hawala, and international transfers — so they can focus entirely on clinical work. We're currently assembling our founding cohort of practitioners before launch.
