How to get an HR job in Lebanon

The HR titles employers post most, what each one does, and how to write a CV and answers that match them.

HR titles mean different jobs

“HR” covers several roles that hire for different skills. Before you apply, match your experience to the title, not to the department. An HR Officer at a 40-person company does a bit of everything. A Talent Acquisition Specialist at a bank does only hiring.

  • HR Officer or HR Generalist: contracts, files, payroll input, NSSF declarations, onboarding, and daily employee questions.
  • HR Coordinator or HR Assistant: scheduling, records, onboarding logistics, and reports. A common first HR job.
  • Recruiter or Talent Acquisition Specialist: sourcing, screening, interviews, and offers.
  • Payroll Officer: salaries, deductions, allowances, and end-of-service calculations.
  • HR Business Partner or HR Manager: policy, performance, restructuring, and advising managers.

What Lebanese employers check first

For generalist and payroll roles, they want to know you have handled Lebanese labor law basics and NSSF work: registration, declarations, and end-of-service indemnity. If you have done it, write it plainly. Most applicants leave it vague.

For recruiting roles, they want volume and speed: how many roles you filled, for which levels, and in how long.

Write numbers under every HR role

HR CVs often read like a list of duties. Replace each duty with the scale and the result.

  • “Hired 35 staff in six months for a new branch, average 21 days to fill.”
  • “Ran monthly payroll for 180 employees in USD and LBP with no late payments.”
  • “Moved employee files to a digital HR system and cut onboarding paperwork from three days to one.”

Name the tools

List the HR systems and tools you have used: an HRIS such as Bayzat, Zoho People, SAP SuccessFactors, or Oracle HCM, plus LinkedIn Recruiter and Excel. Employers filter for Excel skills in payroll roles, so say what you do with it, such as pivot tables for headcount reports.

A certification helps but is not required for entry roles. SHRM, CIPD, or a university HR diploma is worth listing if you have it.

Switching into HR

Many HR hires in Lebanon come from admin, customer service, or office management. Point to the HR tasks you already did: scheduling interviews, keeping attendance, preparing contracts, or onboarding new staff.

Apply for HR Coordinator or HR Assistant roles first. Those titles expect you to learn on the job.

Interview questions to prepare

Expect one question about confidentiality, one about a difficult employee case, and one about process. Prepare a short story for each.

  • “Tell me about a time you handled a complaint against a manager.”
  • “How do you calculate end-of-service indemnity?”
  • “How would you fill three sales roles in a month?”

Where to look

Browse HR jobs across Lebanon and filter by your level. Apply to roles where the title matches what you have done, and change the top of your CV to use their exact title.
